In the middle of the 80s, Yamaha looked for ideas to develop a model that allowed it to penetrate with force in the mighty American market. For it they commanded to a Japanese equipment that, surprised, it attended a race of dragsters, a sport totally unknown in a country in which its prioritizes are the agility and manageability against the brute force.
The spectacular models that saw there were the germ of a motorcycle that would mix the concepts custom and to dragster like never had been made until the moment, and that basically never became to make at least with as much success and success. That motorcycle was the mythical V-Max, that became first of a new segment, “muscle bikes”. Its design was so spectacular and its so stratospheric benefits that they almost went ahead a quarter of century to its time, and good sample of it is that Yamaha has had to hope 24 years to find a worthy heiress it: The new beast V-Max 1700. Yes, we have had to wait for long time but I assure to you that it has been worth the pain.
